Whoohoo! I have finally finished this blanket. I absolutely love it! It will be so soft and cuddly after all the washing. I found the instructions for it here.
I learned a new skill while doing this blanket. Never have I bound a blanket before. Thank goodness for Youtube! There was an excellent video that showed me how. The most time consuming part of the blanket was the hand stitching of the binding. Don't you just love how you feel after putting hours into something and having it turn out well?

Recipe Experiments
So this past week I decided to try a couple of new recipes. They were delicious! I found the recipes on a blog entitled jamiecooksitup.
This first one is fast and easy. Here is the recipe for Chicken Parmeson. Dan and I will fall back on spaghetti if I forget to plan enough meals and what not. This is an easy alternative to plain spaghetti. -It's yummy too!I never know what to do with left over pesto. Well this is a yummy recipe for Chicken Pesto French Bread Sandwhich. We just had it tonight and mmmmmmmmmmm!
I even felt fancy cooking it!

The Fun Continues
I have pulled out the sewing machine again this week to continue making things for baby. -well maybe it is for myself...I don't want the baby to rub his little face when he is riding in the car seat so I made some pads that velcro around the straps for a softer feel. Here is were I got the pattern.
This is a burp cloth that I decided to to attempt. I think it is a good idea. There is a pocket on it so that you can tuck it into itself. I think this will be one for the diaper bag so that I can wrap up the messy spit up and not worry about it getting on everything. Here is were i got the idea.
And then, of course, I had to make a couple more burp cloths to use up some more fabric and time!

A Little Friend
I just finished this little friend for the baby. Hopefully he is as fun as I think he will be. The turtle's shell even comes off. Maybe a should make multiple shells-kind of like a dress-up turtle. haha
Anyway this is where I got the pattern for it if anyone wants to make one. The site also has other animals that you can make.

Bibs
Here is my latest project from Monday. I got the pattern for these bibs here. They were so easy to make! All it takes is cotton, terry cloth, velcro, and any embellishment you want.
I am loving the ability to spend my time sewing and crafting. What a blessing it is to be able to develop my talent a little more. Thank goodness my mother persevered in teaching me to sew and the value of being particular. It is such a good feeling to create something and be happy of how it turned out.

Homemade Toys
This week I had fun making some soft blocks and a taggie blanket. I love sewing and making things. Every time I complete a project, I just feel so good and happy about the outcome.
I made the first block and then for the second, I decided to had some "crinkle" to one of the sides by sewing a piece of Wal-mart bag onto it. The sound isn't loud and obnoxious as some toys are. It is soft and still attention-getting.
I also added some "crinkle"to the blanket. I love the textured fleece. It is so cozy and snuggly. I hope Baby enjoys it!

Car Seat Cover
Ok. One more project. I have to do something to motivate me to study for the Praxis, hence all of the projects this week.
I found a tutorial for this car seat cover here.
I really like the blue and browns (as if you couldn't tell). I am so excited about how it turned out and it was so easy, too! I am trying to decide if I should add some embellishments, but for now I think I am happy with it.

Diaper Pouch
I just finished this project this morning. I am happy how it turned out. It is a little bigger than I originally anticipated, but maybe that is a good thing!
I have seen many moms with this kind of pouch for diapers so I made my own without a pattern. (which kinda scared me) Now I have something to keep diaper changing necessities in!

Project of the Day: Pee-pee Teepee
I first heard of this wonderful idea when my sister had her little boy last year. I have always thought it was a good idea. I mean, who wants an unexpected shower while changing a diaper?
Now that I am having a little boy, I decided that I wanted to make me some Pee-pee Teepees. I found the instructions for them here.
They may not be perfect but I really like how they turned out! p.s. I love the turtles..
