I dressed Benson as a chef. Benson decided that he needed the hat, too.
The kids had so much fun. My friend read them a story and put together a little craft for the kids to do.
Oakley was too busy claiming his territory to do the craft.
She also planned some fun games for the kids. They did a little cake walk game and then played Don't Eat Pete, which Oakley loves because of his Grandma Staheli.
I thought she was brave inviting so many kids to her house! We tried to get them all to cooperate for a picture.
They had yummy ghost snacks. Oakley loved it. When we got home he kept asking to go back and play Halloween some more.
Grandma and Grandpa Kunz came to visit the night before Halloween. The boys always love visits from grandparents. Oakley had asked Grandma if they could make a treat. He said they needed three things. When Grandma asked what things, Oakley couldn't remember. He thought and thought for quite a while then finally something clicked. "Oh I know" he said. "We need ghosts, pudding, and a pumpkin!" He apparently was remembering the treat from the party early in the week and thought he needed to it. So he went to the store with Grandma to get the ingredients.Grandma helped him dip some cookies in chocolate to make the ghosts. Then Oakley put them in the pudding cups, just like he remembered.
For our Halloween dinner, I made some Mummies, Mummy brains, and Dinosaur Eggs. I was planning on making deviled eggs, but was apparently too anxious and didn't cook the eggs long enough. So we they were just boiled eggs. But Oakley thought it was awesome that we were eating dinosaur eggs.
After dinner we dressed the boys up. Oakley thought he needed Dinosaur feet to go with his costume. So being the cool mom that I am, I whipped some up out of some foam craft sheets I had laying around. They weren't the best looking or most durable, but he was pretty happy with them.
Benson really couldn't be bothered with the whole Trick or Treating adventure. This was the best picture we could get of him.
He would much rather chase after this stray cat that was hanging around.
Oakley remembered exactly what to do. He knocked loud then came and stood by me to wait for the door to open. He even remembered to say "Trick-or-treat." Benson that it was pretty cool to get candy, too. There didn't seem to be too many trick-or-treaters out and about. The boys were given hand-fulls of candy, just because they people had tons of candy left. We came home after about an hour and a half. Our candy bowl we left on the porch steps was still filled the brim with candy. Lots of extra sugar for us!
