Last week Oakley went in for his 2 month check-up. He is still a happy healthy boy!
He weighs 13 lbs 13 oz (91%) is 24.25 inches long (90%) and has a head circ. of 40 cm (49%).
We are just amazed at how fast he is growing.
He smiles a lot and likes to tell us stories. He likes when Daddy comes home to play with him.
(Daniel tried to convince me that we needed to pack Oakley into our 72 hour backpack. )

New Project

Alright so I guess I can't go too long without starting a new project. I was browsing Amazon for Christmas gifts (yes I am thinking about Christmas already) and came across this cute owl.
I really don't think it can be all that difficult to make. I just have to start collecting fabric with my handy-dandy coupons!
I sure hope Oakley enjoys it!

I month
I can't believe that my little boy is already a month old. Where did the time go? I guess when the day is broken into intervals they zoom by.
At Oakley's doctor appointment this week he weighed in at 10 lbs. 15 oz- 87 percentile, 21.75 inches long - 68 percentile, and 39 cm head circumference - 75 percentile.
I guess he isn't such a newborn anymore. He has nearly outgrown his pjs already and fills out 3 mo onsies even better than when he was born.
He is so sweet and just loves to be cuddled.

Motherhood
I received this quotation from a friend of mine in Logan. She typed it from a talk that Elder Holland has on LDS.org. It is a good reminder of what motherhood is about.
"The work of a mother is hard, too often unheralded work. Please know that it is worth it, then, now, and forever... The mental investment, the spiritual and emotional exertion, the long night the long day stretch to the limit demands that sometimes are required in to trying to be and wanting to be the mother that God hopes you will be... Know... (you are) doing God's work. cherish that role that is so uniquely yours and for which heaven itself sends angels to watch over you and your little ones. Yours is the work of salvation and therefore, you will be magnified, compensated, made more than you are, better than you are, better than you've been. We thank...you and tell you that there is nothing more important in this world than participating in the work and glory of God.
"May I say to mothers collectively, in the name of the Lord, you are magnificent! You are doing terrifically well. The very fact that you've been given such a responsibility is everlasting evidence of the trust your father in heaven has in you. He is blessing you and He will bless you, especially when your days and your nights may be the most challenging. rely on Him. Rely on Him heavily. Rely on Him forever and press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope." -Jeffery R. Holland

Introducing...
Gordon Oakley Kunz was born July 28th at 10:16 pm. Daniel and I could not have asked for a more perfect little boy. We have already fallen head over heels for him! He weighed 8 lbs 9 oz and was 20.5 in. long. I can't believe that he fit inside of me!
After weeks of being dilated and the doctor telling me any day now, we decided to be induced. (My doctor was going to be out of town the week after my due date.) So we arrived at the hospital at 7:30 am and by about 8:30 I was all hooked up to the pitocin. Immediately I started having contractions but nothing painful at all. Dan was gracious enough to let me watch Tangled while I was laboring.
Because I tested positive for strep b, I had to have at least 4 hours of penicillin before the baby could be born. Well I made it to four hours and more.
At 11 I was still having contractions but still nothing painful at all and no further dilation. (I was still at a 4). The doctor came in at 1:00 to break my water. Boy did that get things goin! Right off I could feel the difference in my contractions. As long as I had Daniel's hand and could breath, I made it though just fine. I remember a couple of times when Dan wasn't holding my hand and I got upset with him. I guess I just need to know that he was right there next to me. He was so good to sit next to me the whole time and even fanned me fore hours at a time because I was so hot.
I was stuck between a 9 and 10 for a couple of hours. The nurses began to wonder if Oakley was posterior so they had me lay on my side to try to encourage him to move. We still don't know if he was or not, but things worked out fine.
Finally at about 8:30 I was allowed to begin pushing to deliver my baby. Sometimes Oakley's oxygen would dip so I would have to wear oxygen to help him out a little. That little boy was so stubborn coming out! It seemed like the doctor said "one more good push" for hours. (I don't really know because I was kind of out of it.) The doctor did use the vacuum to help guide the baby up and from the pelvis but thankfully she didn't need to use too much force. Then low and behold there was my little boy!
He was absolutely perfect! The first thing I really took note of was how long his fingers and toes were. I was also really happy that he had hair. (Daniel didn't have any until he was 1.)
Delivery was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. But I did it! I even was able to refrain from an epidural, though, I did have fentenal a couple of times to take the edge off of my contractions. The nursing staff was wonderful and very positive. The baby nurse was surprised to find out that I didn't have an epidural she said that I was a lot calmer than most women.
I attribute this to the priesthood and silent prayer. I am so grateful to Daniel for having the authority of God to help comfort me and give me confidence. The Lord is mindful of us and what we are going through and gives us strength in our time of need.
Daniel is such a good daddy. I don't think I even changed a diaper until Tuesday. He wants to do everything for Oakley including feeding (if he could). I love watching the two of them gaze at each other. I love my boys!
