Baby Blanket

It may have taken me 14 months, but I have finished this baby blanket. I think it turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself. It is just in time for the baby, too!

School Is Out!!

Well let me just say this...Whoohoo!! Daniel and I are both so glad that the busy schedules of school are done, for a few months at least. It was a busy semester with me doing level III and practicum and Daniel working on his Senior Project. The time went by fast and now we can say that all of the hard work payed off. We both pulled 4.0s! I think that Daniel's is more of an achievement than mine though because he had some wicked hard classes.
Thursday of finals week was the senior showcase. Daniel's group designed and programed a security system. It was a lot of work! Daniel would spend hours at the lab working on it. I wish I could explain how it all worked, but I am not that tech savvy. But here are some pictures of the group showing off their project. It was hard to get pictures because so many people were wanting demonstrations.

Student Art

So despite my nervousness, I really enjoyed teaching 3rd grade. The class was so enthusiastic about learning and my cooperating teacher was so positive and upbeat.
I was so sad when my six weeks were up. The class made me a little book with notes to me and pictures they drew. I love the pictures of me pregnant!
Because school is now finished (hooray!) I have found myself with a lot of time on my hands. So this week I decided to go back and visit my class. I must have timed it just right because they were coming in from lunch recess when I was walking to the classroom. Once they saw my they yelled "Mrs. Kunz!" and mobbed me with a huge group hug. It totally made my day. They were just so happy to see me and tell me about what they have been doing since I left. While there I was reading "Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles" to them so the had to catch me up on the story line.
The best part of teaching is knowing that you impacted a child's life. I love it!

Teaching

I absolutely love teaching in the 3rd grade. What was I so worried about! My class is so smart and just love learning.
So far I have been able to teach them 2 math lessons that I prepared myself. This week we are starting to learn about Gravity. The students are excited to learn about it and I am excited to teach them. (did I say that I love my class?)
I hope I am rubbing off on my students as much as they are rubbing off on me. The got me hooked on Fablehaven and now I am on the 4th book. I love reading to them. I have also had the opportunity of introducing them to "Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles." They had never heard of it before. The students are just eating up the story and hate it when I have to stop. If I could, I would read to them all day!

I am always amazed at how well the kids grasp technology. This cartoon really explains things well. The kids are always turning their writings into podcasts and they are so good at it!

Baby Bedding

It may have taken 12 hours of sewing and whatnot, but I finished the dust ruffle and bumper pad for the baby's crib! I am happy about how it turned out. I mostly used the pattern, but then had to modify it to fit the padding that I bought.
I guess we are a little bit closer to getting the baby's room in order!

24 Weeks down!

Things I like about being pregnant:

  • I don't feel as bad about having strange cravings
  • It is an excuse for EVERYTHING
  • Leading the way with my belly (I get so many smiles from strangers!)
  • Just sitting and feeling the movement of my baby
  • Dan talks to him and keeps trying to "play" with him
  • Reading books to baby is fun
  • Baby makes orchestra interesting. He starts kicking up a storm when I play
  • I especially love the closeness I feel with my baby,my husband, and the Lord
