Yes this is a halloween post...It's been a little crazy around here.
Daniel took me on a date to see the Haunted Orchestra in SLC. We left school as soon as I finished with preschool and headed south. We love Indian food and just had to make a stop at the Himalayan Kitchen. That is by far our favorite place to eat. So delicious!
While walking to Abravenal Hall, we noticed a lot of people dressed up with children. We found out that they were headed to the concert as well. Everyone there was dressed up in Halloween costumes! I didn't even know that they encouraged that. There were some pretty great costumes. One family was sushi and one little girl was silly bands.
The concert was fabulous! They started out with Mars from Holst's Planets. I was bouncing up in down in my seat because I was just so excited. Daniel just chuckled at me. The performance was great. they had an actor there that would do a bit of a monologue in between the songs. He actually wrote the script to go with the music. Oh my, I just had a lot of fun. Thanks Daniel for taking me!

School Time
Well Daniel and I have officially completed our second week of school! We are counting down the weeks already. The great thing is that we only have 3 semesters left. That just sounds so good! I can't believe that I only have the two semesters and then my student teaching. As one of my friends recently pointed out..."Mrs. Kunz... wow that makes you sound old." Haha I guess it does.
Daniel has at least one class that he is excited for...I wish I could explain it to you, but I don't have an engineer's brain... maybe I could convince him to write a post....
I am enjoying my PE in Elementary class. It makes me want to be an advocate for physical activity for children in schools. Those poor kids really don't get enough PE.
I am teaching in the Child Development Lab the second half of the semester, but today I was able to sub for one of the girls that got sick. I really enjoyed playing with the children and teaching them. I forgot how much fun it is to play with them! We had a birthday party set up in the dramatic play area and one little boy was so excited to throw me a surprise birthday party! haha it was cute. You really don't realize how much kids pick up on things until you are right with them playing.
Anyhoo...that was just a short blurb on how we are doing. Enjoy life!

Jump Rope

Today for my Elementary School PE we went to a local elementary school and had a class about jumping rope. Those kids really know their stuff! They were teaching us how to cross the rope in front of our bodies and put the rope under one leg while jumping and doing push-ups while jumping, and even jumping with our behinds! I couldn't believe how hard it was and what a great workout too! OUr teacher, a 4th grader, was great and very patient with my group of college students.
They even taught us how to do double dutch. I never thought that I could ever do anything like that, but I did manage to jump in and get a few jumps before I messed up the ropes.
Overall, I had so much fun! I wish the university offered a class on jumping rope. Seriously it is such good exercise!!

the birds
So we had some birds move in at the beginning of summer. Sorry to all bird lovers but these chicks are the ugliest baby birds I have ever seen! One of their favorite hobbies is to stare us down and glare at us when we go in and out of the apartment.

The View from the Top

Daniel is always so happy to be in the mountains everyday. I am jealous of the view he gets everyday on the job. Isn't it amazing! Besides working for the forest service he also has the opportunity to capture moments in nature.
